Background

The Council hosted two panels at, and in collaboration with, Mining Indaba for its 2025 conference in Cape Town. These sessions focused on (a) the role of African governments in critical mineral value chain development; and (b) how to increase investment in the midstream and downstream of critical minerals across Africa. These sessions were primarily intended to (a) socialize the Council among African stakeholders by participating in a key critical minerals conference on the continent; and (b) in this forum, lead key conversations related to the Council’s mission and vision for just development of critical minerals.
