New Delhi, India | 06 to 07 August 2026.
Strengthening Partnerships and Collaboration from Minerals to Manufacturing
Clean technology supply chains represent a high-priority opportunity for collaboration between Global South countries. Driven by ambitious policy targets, India is among the largest and fastest-growing clean technology markets, with a vibrant domestic manufacturing ecosystem. Deeper cooperation between governments and industries—from minerals processing and refining to trade in intermediate materials and finished technologies, including solar PV modules, batteries, transmission and distribution infrastructure, and electric vehicles—can unlock new markets, reduce imports, and contribute to more resilient supply chains.
The 1st India-Global South Convening on Clean Technology Minerals & Supply Chains aims to provide a dedicated platform for senior representatives from government, industry, and state enterprises across emerging economies in Asia, Africa, and Latin America to foster dialogue and identify concrete collaborations on clean technology value chain development, including technical exchange, joint investments, trade linkages, industry-to-industry dialogue, skilling, and research and development.
The ambition of greater Global South cooperation has been echoed over the years, but it requires an intentional approach to ensure a clear pathway to success. The convening aims to fill a critical gap by centering Global South priorities, enabling policy exchange, supporting partnership building focused on investments, and advancing common priorities on trade, investment, and technology. The first edition of the convening is planned to be hosted in New Delhi from 06 to 07 August 2026, alongside the 7th International Energy Conference & Exhibition 2026 organized by CII and the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
Objectives
The inaugural edition of the convening will be hosted with the following key objectives:
(a) Convene in-person representatives from government, industry, state-owned enterprises, and coalitions responsible for clean technology supply chain development.
(b) Showcase India’s key critical minerals, renewable energy, and electric mobility programmes, including the National Critical Minerals Mission, National Solar Mission, PM E-DRIVE, and domestic industry capabilities.
(c) Host evidence-driven discussions focused on specific technologies or themes related to technology access, industrial policy design, and financing.
(d) Foster collaboration between Global South countries in research and development, clean technology manufacturing, infrastructure development, and unlocking trade.
(e) Develop an outcome document highlighting Global South priorities identified during the convening, along with an implementation roadmap.
Outcomes
