Background
Co-hosted by the Council on Critical Minerals Development in the Global South and KADIN Net Zero Hub, this event was held on the sidelines of the Indonesia International Sustainability Forum 2024 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The moderated roundtable facilitated discussion on levers needed to unlock opportunities in value chain development for electric mobility, solar PV and energy storage in Indonesia and ASEAN region. Attendees deliberated on how industrial clusters and Special Economic Zones can facilitate local value chain development, from critical minerals (extraction, processing, refining) to manufacturing to recycling. Participants addressed challenges, partnerships, and actionable recommendations to advance local value creation and energy transition goals.
The moderated discussion was guided by three themes: (a) economic opportunity; (b) mobilizing industry and investment; and (c) coordinating development partners.
